Senior Next Steps

I’ve applied to college... now what?

By now you should have most of your first-round college applications submitted. There are still many deadlines ahead and next steps to be aware of to complete your application process.

1. Complete the FAFSA. Keep in mind, some colleges need a completed FAFSA to offer merit scholarships and/or need based aid or loans.

2. CSS Profile-  Many private colleges require you to complete the CSS Profile for scholarship consideration and aid/loans. There is a fee. Click here for more info.

3. Search for Scholarships a. Research for additional scholarships that your colleges may offer. Some will require an additional application. Know your deadlines b. Search now. Don’t wait until 2nd semester

4. Check your email and check it again! Colleges will communicate with you about your admissions decisions and next steps via email. Be sure to check it for updates and status.

5. Take a campus tour- Colleges offer ongoing campus tours during the year. Some colleges offer special tours for admitted students.

6. Keep track of admissions decisions, housing and enrollment deposits.

If you know that you are no longer interested in a college that you applied to, be sure to let admissions know so they can focus their attention on interested applicants. This is a courtesy.
